Finally unwrapped the presents my colleagues got for me last week just before lunch and found these. An usb aroma diffuser and a cute frog that runs on solar power.
Looks like christmas is going to be a good one despite the fact I want to look for a new job and get out of this shithole.
I am blessed with nice colleagues, guess that's good enough a present already.
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY!!!

Christmas Tree
Yes, it's the time of the year again.
Once again the festive season arrives. Was leaving the office and I took a shot of the christmas tree in the office.
Will I get any presents this year?
So fast another year has come to pass. It'll be 2008 in barely 32 days. Sure bring back lots of memories for this year.

Typing fast?
Downloaded a full working application for WM5/6 to type without using a stylus. It's free if you download before 5th Dec. Full version! Great if you miss the touchpad in WM5 after you upgraded it to WM6.
Get it from http://www.cootek.com.

World Class Transport!
Was considering to take 162 to work after gym, so decided to check the schedule of the next arriving 162 timing ... And viola!
17 mins! And they still dare to claim world class transport and raise transport fares citing they are not profitable every year, my FOOT!
It was also in the direction from Shenton Way to Yio Chu Kang bus lnterchange where it's the non peak lane.
End up of course I took MRT instead. Monday bluez...

HSDPA Phones
Anybody using any HSDPA phone with the data plan from M1? I'm kinda tempted to get a HSDPA phone with the 1GB data plan, but cannot decide on what phone to get for this.
Tried my friend's Samsung i600 and is pretty pleased with it running Windoze Mobile 5. Had a look at Palm and O2 but can't decide. Nokia's 95 is a bit ugly...
Any suggestions?

MC!
Yay! One day MC for me. Dragged too long to see the doc. Headed over after my morning gym session and saw my doc. He gave me a mirror and told me to see my own throat, which looks yucky. *puke* Told him I've been feeling throaty and hot/cold since last Thursday. Thought it would go off, but apparently it didn't. I took too long to see a doc. He advised me 3 days maximum next time.
This time he had to prescribe me super strong antibiotics for 5 days. Man, it must be darn bad :(
Look at all the medication I have to take :(

I miss my BEST FRIEND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My pathetic office...
A colleague took his cam to work, so I took the opportunity to snap a few pictures of my 'room' The room is essentially split into 2 aircon areas. For some reasons, the ABNNs cannot stand cold and they refuse to learn about an invention, called jackets, so my row's aircon (front) is adjusted at 19 deg always, while their row's aircon (further back) is near 26 deg, which is like ultra stuffy.

Oh yeah, the sun boxes on the tables and the server(s) (near the bottom left corner) are all belongs to me! Wheee, but pity not for me to take home. Haiz.
The below is my wonderful table. Not a lot of space, pathetic hor?

HP DL380 PCI-E to PCI-X raiser
I was going mad, when i need to have 2 PCi card to install in a new DL380 server.
And the new G5 now come without PCI-X slot, in order to use PCI card, I will
need to buy a raiser to do the conversion, and i have no idea waht the hack the raise is about,
non of a single picture of the diagram / picture in Hp web site.
Ask vendor, vendor act blur, very sian.
Thanks to god I have a DL380 G5 ship from US office to my DR site,
as try by luck i found that that from the hp management software that this server have to PCI slot! Quickly with Gabriel we chiong to the kaki bukit site to bring this server backt ofoffice to do our reserach, and you know what? it actually come with a raiser!
Good thing that now I know most likely my PCi cards can fit in to the slot , yeah!
Take me ad gabriel spent more than a month to ask around, search around, and end up the answer is in my DR site!

Not enough...
My boss says I'm not working enough, not receptive to new things, not hungry enough for work.
All these, compared to a stupid indian that MIAs during rack mounting of HIS PROJECT's servers, can't even screw a screw properly to mount the server, can't even do a Win2003 Server installation on 2 x SunFire 4200 w/ RAID, configure a StorageTek 6140, setup a StorEdge C2 and IBM X206s.
All they do is come in late, go off on the dot, tea-break, since they have no life, they stay at home support users and get standby allowance. They have no idea about infrastructure, cannot setup the servers, cannot mount servers.
If they're so good, paid five-figure, work on weekends to provide dial up support at home to users, why not get them to do the server setup, why break my concentration on my current project to do all these setup and tell me I'm not doing enough when in the first place, the servers don't even belong to my project?
Why, also, ask me to assist the Technical team's project to setup Solaris with SunRay then clear all the machines, and reinstall 4 SunFire X2200s with Win2003 Server (in less than 2 hours)?
Why, then, ask me to go pick up SAP SCM BASIS role and do SAP installation, setup, liveCache configuration etc when I'm not supposed to to want to pick up new things?
Then why ask me to lead a team of developers for my own project too?
And I'm not doing enough? I'm not open to new things? The time is nigh. I shall print my letter tomorrow.

PSP...
A few friends and I brought our PSP to camp and had a fun time whacking away with multiplayer games like Bomberman. It did attract a few other camp mates who were asking about price and how to play *ahem* games.
Over my ICT, I bought 2 PSPs from Tenchi (新天地)at AMK, the same building where Sportslink is located. They have a lot of stock with the firmware of 3.40 OE-A, which allows you to play games off memory stick.
Black/White - $308
Other colours - $288
They have a bundle that is very worth it (personal opinion):
- PSP Black/White
- Hori Screen Protector
- Crystal Case / Hard case
- Sandisk 4GB Memory Stick (original, verify with the Vector Magnetics sticker on it)
- OEM Remote Controll Earphones
- USB Data Cable cum Charger
- 1 UMD Game (needed for playing games off memory stick)
- Additional controller buttons
Those who knows the market prices, a 4GB Memory Stick Pro Duo, will cost $105, so, for $438, actually, you're getting quite a super good deal.
If you do go there to buy, tell them you were referred by a guy who passed you a packet of their tissues, I got a large packet of tissues from them as they were running out of namecards. Hahaha. They will know it's me. I've referred a friend there to purchase also, he bought 2 sets as well. Another camp mate will be buying on tues. Hahaha.
So... if you're interested, check them out!

Been a long time since I actually PAID to shoot a model, anyway, since I was free and had nothing to do on saturday (16/6) I joined one of the online outdoor shoots. It was raining but nonetheless, I did have a good time, click on the image below to see the whole series.
The model is Elynn, number 26 in the game show "Deal or No Deal" Pity though her hair wasn't what was shown on the Mediacorp's Website. Nonetheless, she's pretty good infront of the camera.

p/s: The cup of coke cost me $8! Hahaha...

$200 Durian Story
Strory provided by Doris Tey, a victim of the durian stall ....
Dear friends, especially durian lovers!
Please keep away from this durian stall called C**N Y**G TRADING opp
Geylang Lor 11. Their hard sell tactics give you no time to react and you'll be forced to spend 200 on just a few durians!!
Probably its just
one or 2 salesmen who use such underhand tricks but
better to avoid the
stall totally or be sorry!
Here is my own personal account:
On 21st Apr, my husband with a group of friends decided to have some
durian after dinner at geylang and we head straight to the nearest stall - CHIN YONG TRADING. Turned out to be a big mistake!
My husband went off to choose the durians after we found a table. Once my husnband approached this hooligan, he took out his parang to open a durian and ask my husband to try, my husband asked him how much was it but he say "never mind just try first", so my husband commented not bad....immediately this hooligan picked up 5 durians and put into a basket, weighed it and brought it to our tables despite my husband repeated questioning on the price. No replies given.
At our table, he opened up another and asked me and another gal friend (who's carrying a less than yr old baby) to try the durian so we tried. He asked whether nice, we said yes, not bad and immediately he started opening up another durian and say, "see confirm good one this one"! We asked him about the price then only at this time he told us $20 per kg!!! so we asked him the whole basket how heavy, and guess what??? 10kg, and there were only 5 durians inside! We say we don;t want he say cannot cos durian opened already and he already keyed in the sales and cannot return. Then keep explaining to us this is really good durian and worth eating while picking up another to open. This time we raised out voice and told him if he don't stop opening, we will leave immediately.
Only then he stopped and say, never mind, he'll return the other 2 unopened one, but the rest of the three durians we have to take....wah piang...and we thought just a while ago he said key in order already cannot returned??????
Anyway, we were very angry and everything happened too fast for us to react, we finished up the 3 durians which in the end cost us $140/- , we didn't enjoyed the durians at all. We hope to prevent anyone from becoming victims again to this hardselll tactics so beware of those geylang stalls especiall Chin Yong Trading. One of our friends who joined us later on said that he experienced the same thing too from the same stall once.
