And I thought I was done...
I thought my installation of the server(s)' OS, setup the network storage and that's all... now my boss just threw to me Backup Exec to work on for the tape drive, the disaster recovery etc.
Now also add 1 UPS with a CISCO switch to play with... waaaaahhh.... I'm overworked and under paid. The UPS is super heavy... worse than the storage array.
I need a new job.. sobz.

Connecting to a 6140.
For those of you interested in connecting a StorageTek 6140 to a host and let the host see the volumes you created, may refer to this
My Lousy Blog
It's not everything there is, but it's a guide that I came out with after 2 days of playing with the storage array.

Fixed my Sun Servers...
Finally, Sun sent down two engineers to fix my servers.
My SunFire 4200 got repaired, all the engineer did was to replace the BMC/SP card on the board and there it goes. Fast eh? I was able to remote in, do my testings and plugged in a RAID1-ed HDD and there we go, Windows 2003 'pre'-installed and re-setup the RAID1. Saved me a few hours on re-installation of the OS. It was a bit delayed because the stupid operator that took down my address heard "Si Mei" instead of "Sin Ming". Both the engineer and the DHL delivery went to Simei first. So took a while.
However, the StorageTek took a bit more effort, the engineer borrowed my user manuals, the CAM software, but still unable to remote in. He suggested changing the parts, to which I told him, fine, order it and get it over and done with TONIGHT (Thursday night). There I was, had to cancel my dinner appointments and sit in the office to wait for him to resolve.
Finally, he did resolve it, the DB-9pin to RJ45 cable must be connected to another male-male 6 pin connector, then to another null modem cable, to the serial port of the notebook. I was simply flared up, if that was the case, why didn't Sun provide me the male-male converter and the null modem cable. Wasted 4.5 hours of the engineer's time trying to serial into the console using the method stated in the user manual and ordered in the parts (which was not available for delivery till monday).
It was 7.35pm, 4 and a half hours since he arrived at 3pm to resolve my issue. And all these, thanks to Sun, wasted my precious time in setting up the server for the other team to do their migration/testing(s).
I told him to get back to me regarding the missing parts and instructions in Sun user manual/deliverables before I sign any service report. Sheesh... darn irritating.

It sux.
I have gold level support with SUN, but their engineers sux, one doesn't even know his own hardware configuration and gave me stupid instructions. Their StorageTek 6140 has no serial ports, and they asked if I have a null modem cable to test the serial in. Then they ask me for the part number of the cable (D9 pin->RJ45), which I was like "duh, this cable was provided by SUN!?!?!, what part number is there on the cable?!?! You mean it makes a difference?"
After that he told me the serial console is only for SUN engineers and I retorted, if that's the case, then why put the instructions in the manual? It's for crucial emergency configuration if the controllers are not contactable via a host's CAM.
Then the SUN engineer told me it's ok, the problem is not serious. Oh goodness. "So what? I deploy to my client's site, then when it has the problem, I bring back the StorageTek to SUN and then replace a new one and tell what to my clients?"
And yet empty promises whole day, promised me to come by and finish up servicing one of my 4200s that has the BMC/SP by end of the day didn't. Another committed to calling me back in for an appointment tomorrow to show me that the serial console into my StorageTek is ok and fine but didn't.
And then another one of my 4200's BMC/SP just went uncontactable, I totally cannot go into the Java console ILOM. Arghhhhh what is wrong with the stupid SUN systems!! They're all new and I'm gold level support but I'm not getting any!!!! ARGH!

RegisterFly
In case you folks didn't know, RegisterFly is no longer an accredited domain registrar, I found out too late, now trying to move my domains out.
For those of you with account still on there try this - http://www.networkworld.com/community/?q=node/12531, hope it works for you. I think one of my domains didn't, but at least the other did (I hope).

Sun QA
Think around last monday morning my best friend's StorageTek 6130 had some problems with the RAID and HDD, then led the problems all the way till friday before my best friend's sun engineer changed the array controllers on the StorageTek.
Just friday, 3.30pm, my boss threw to me 2 x 4200, 1 x StorEdge C2 and 1 x StorageTek 6140. I was to test the systems and make sure everything is ok, and have the basic infra setup before they install windoze on the 4200s.
So I booted up the first one that I unpacked, as the EEPROM boots, it warns me that BMC is not working. A quick check in the BIOS showed me that the BMC is not installed/spoilt. So I serial management connected in to the SP, managed to login, but I cannot set the remote management IPs/DNS at all.
I reported this to my CTO, and well, he funnily asked me, "How? What do you think of Sun's QA?" I was like well, my best friend's StorageTek just died... lol... I never had a 41/4200 server DOA like that on me.
